8-Day Northern Kenya Safari

DAY 1: ARRIVAL NAIROBI

On arrival a Savannah Luxe representative will pick you from the airport and drop you at your Nairobi Hotel for the Overnight stay. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Tamarind Tree Hotel or similar on Bed and Breakfast.

DAY 2: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

After an early breakfast you will depart for Samburu National Reserve. The drive is approximately 8 hours long with occasional bathroom breaks. The drive is picturesque as you will be driving past pineapple farms wheat farms and on a cloudless day you will be able to spot the majestic snow-capped Mount Kenya. Arrive in time for lunch at your Lodge, which is built on the shores of Ewaso Nyiro River (the brown River) Spend the afternoon on a game drive discovering the unique wildlife of the reserve. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Tented Camp or similar on Full Board basis.

DAY 3: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

This rugged semi-arid desert is ripe for discovery, the characteristic northern varieties of the special five plain mammals are easily seen – the magnificent, reticulated giraffe, fine stripped grevy’s zebra, the dapper Beisa oryx, the distinctive long-necked browsing gerenuk gazelle and the elegant blue legged Somali Ostrich. We’ve had good luck with predator sightings including lions leopards and cheetahs, and we rate the overall wildlife viewing here highly. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Tented Camp or similar on Full Board basis.

We’ve had good luck with predator sightings including lions leopards and cheetahs, and we rate the overall wildlife viewing here highly. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Tented Camp or similar on Full Board basis.

DAY 4: OL-PEJETA CONSERVANCY

Today we shall be heading to Pejeta conservancy. After breakfast, drive to the privately-owned 24,000-acre reserve, its approximately a 3 hour drive and we shall arrive well in time for lunch. One of the private wildlife reserves in Kenya, your under-canvas experience includes wildlife drives in search of the Big Five. Watch a parade of elephant, giraffe, zebra and impala come to drink at the camps floodlit waterhole and saltlick. During your stay here, you will also visit the 200-acre Chimpanzee sanctuary that has been set up here. Although chimps are not indigenous to Kenya, the aim of the project, initiated by Lonrho East Africa. Kenya Wildlife Services and the Jane Goodall Institute, was to set up a colony where chimps could be introduced, rehabilitated, and taught to fend for themselves in an area similar to their natural living conditions. Priority is given to orphaned and abused chimps. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Safari Camp on Full Board basis or similar.

DAY 5: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast you will check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park the drive is picturesque, you will be driving along the Aberdare ranges and later descent the rift valley enjoying the beautiful views of the tea farms. If time allows your driver guide will drive, you past the Thompsons falls in Nyahururu. You will arrive at Nakuru arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon proceed on a game viewing drive circumventing Lake Nakuru. The lake is situated in the heart of the Rift Valley and is one Kenya’s most famous soda lakes. A major feature of this park is the bird life, a rhino sanctuary also provides the opportunity to see the greatly endangered black rhino. Dinner and Overnight at Flamingo hill camp or similar on Full Board Basis

DAY 6: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

After breakfast depart for Kenya’s famous National Reserve. The drive is approximately 7 hours with a few bathroom breaks along the way. You start the day venturing through the Great Rift Valley travelling to the northern most extension of the Serengeti Plains and one of the richest wildlife Reserves, the Masai Mara. The Mara is home to the awesome, black-manned lion, the elusive leopard, stately giraffes, vast herds of elephants, rhino, thundering herds of zebra, migrating wildebeest and numerous other plains game. You arrive at the Camp for a late lunch. After lunch depart for an afternoon game-viewing drive. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Camp or similar on Full Board

DAY 7: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

A full day’s safari in one of the world’s most famous reserves, offering an abundance of herbivores, the Mara makes the ideal hunting ground for Kenya’s famous ‘big cats’ and hosts her largest population of lions. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara is famous for the large herds of elephant and buffalo that wander its plains, and for the annual migration of the wildebeest (seasonal). Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Camp. Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a full spread of English breakfast and some champagne in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience. Alternatively visit a Masai village and get learn the Masai culture at an extra cost. Sarova Mara Camp or similar on Full Board

DAY 8: DEPART

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the early afternoon if time allows you will be driven by a Maasai market for some last-minute shopping and later dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta international airport for your flight.

COST : From $2,375.00 per person sharing in a Double room.

Based on 4 people in 1 4×4 Landcruiser following covid protocols.

  • International or Domestic Flights, Visa Fees
  • Personal Expenses such as Drinks, Laundry, Telephone, tips to hotel staff, gratuities to Driver/Guide etc
  • Travel Insurance – we strongly recommend that comprehensive travel insurance be purchased for the duration of your journey to protect against any missed or delayed flights, illnesses etc that may cause cancellation of your travel plans.

We provide special Safari Land cruiser 4WD. The vehicles are fitted with a pop – up roof for game viewing and photographing.
